Important Information About
the ASR Hip System Recall
DePuy Orthopaedics issued a voluntary recall of its ASR™ XL Acetabular Hip System and DePuy ASR™ Hip Resurfacing System in August 2010. We understand that the ASR Hip System recall is concerning for patients, their family members and surgeons. Since the recall decision was made, DePuy has worked to provide patients and surgeons with the information and support they need.
The ASR XL Acetabular Hip System first became commercially available in the U.S. in December 2005. If you had your hip surgery in the U.S. prior to December 2005, the hip you received is not subject to this recall. The ASR Hip Resurfacing System was not commercially available in the U.S.
